Karen will be tasked with developing the company's UK and international marketing strategy and will be responsible for managing Scott Timber's public relations profile.
She brings with her senior management experience from her role with NHS Tayside where she managed the Diabetes Clinical Network.
Karen led the implementation of Managed Clinical Networks in NHS Tayside and contributed to the Scottish Executive's implementation of Networks nationally.

Major New Programme On Off-Site Production
CIRIA are to lead a major programme on off-site production.
Karen recently completed an MBA from the University of Abertay.
She said: "It has been a very exciting 12 months for Scott Timber and its structure and systems have had to adapt to reflect its increasing stature.
Until now, the growth of the company has been largely through word of mouth but, in order to open up new areas of business and ensure continued growth, it was felt we required a stronger marketing focus.
"I have always had an interest in the family business, so I am relishing the opportunity to be hands on and help consolidate our acquisitions and maintain our standing as an innovative market leader." The second new appointment is David Hustwayte, a senior partner of 28 years with Glasgow solicitors Kerr and Company.
Scott Timber's solicitor since the formation of the company, David is now coming on board to bolster the senior management team and to use his experience and vast knowledge of the company to help drive forward future acquisition opportunities.
David will continue his involvement with Kerr and Company and joins Scott Timber as Projects Director.
His will be responsible for developing a retail operation for the company, focused on the fencing market.
"The Scott Timber Group is now the largest pallet maker in the UK and its strength in this area is continuing to open up new opportunities in related fields," said David.
"One of these is in fencing and over the year we are going to be looking into developing a retail operation which we ultimately hope to expand across the UK utilising the Group's extensive network of sites.
"During the time I have known John and Norman they have transformed the pallet-making industry with a fresh and exciting business model.
Having had a long association with the company, I am now looking forward to being involved in the challenges ahead and supporting the Group's amazing growth.".
