A Surface Design Show product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 25, 2008

The 2009 show will have the latest decorative interior and exterior surfaces as well as sustainable and renewable materials within new features of Green Surfaces and Surface Innovations.

This year's Surface Design Show saw an increase in both domestic and international exhibitors and an increase of over 15% in visitor attendance.

Buoyed by this impressive growth and the clear demand for more innovative products and surface solutions, the organisers have taken an additional hall at the Business Design Centre.

The 2009 show will run from the 10th - 12th February.

Milan Cvetkovic of Exhibitors Vescom reflects on last years show: 'This has been our fourth year at the Surface Design Show and we've had a very good response - the best one so far.

We have been busier than at previous years' shows and have been able to speak to the right groups of people, especially in the commercial interiors sector.

We've generated a lot of leads and also gained good exposure for our brand'.

New Exhibitors.

The 2009 show may be over seven months away but many new exhibitors are already booked to showcase their surface solutions to the creme of the architecture and design community.

Amongst the diverse array of new companies exhibiting at the show in 2009 is 'Ceramiche Caesar', synonymous with top quality porcelain stoneware.

They are the first manufacturer to have obtained the ecological quality label within Gruppo Concorde and are the first Italian ceramic industry group that has been awarded the Ecolabel.

Forbo Flooring Systems will also showcase the launch of its new Furniture Linoleum collection, releasing a unique and sustainable new surface finishing material to the furniture industry.

2009 Features.

The additional floorspace offered by the second hall has also allowed the organisers to create focal points within the show.

Designed to highlight burning issues the new Green Surfaces section is dedicated to sustainable, recyclable and renewable materials and will showcase an extensive selection of environmentally responsible and visually inspiring materials for contemporary building design.

A Surface Innovations section will address the advancing technology of surfaces, providing an intriguing insight into design and function in the future.

Along with increased international interest and presence at this year's show, The Surface Design Show 2009 will introduce International Pavilions, reflecting cultural and design diversity from around the world.

Anita Gorny, Event Manager of The Surface Design Show says: 'The 2008 Surface Design Show was a great success, with significant growth in visitor numbers and extremely positive feedback from the exhibitors - the majority of whom have already confirmed their participation next year.

We are already seeing a larger presence of international brands and are working on even more thought provoking seminars and talks.

The Surface Design Show has firmly established itself as the annual meeting place for architects and interior designers.

We will continue to connect suppliers with professionals looking for inspiration and greater knowledge in the field of surface design.
