Super Rod give future electricians a helping hand

A Super Rod product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 21, 2009

Super Rod support for Barnardo's Hub Construction skills centre in East London includes donation of a bundle of Super Rod kit to the students of the electrical skills division.

Head Electrical Tutor Leon Boothe commented on the donation, Generosity from companies such as Super Rod enable us to tutor our students more effectively, by giving them the right tools for the job allows them to work to a more professional level and to follow best practice, I think Super Rod products are fantastic and I can't wait to show all the other students in years to come.

Developed by national children's charity Barnardo's and London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the Hub offers short courses in plumbing, carpentry, decorating and electrical installation.

The Hub acts both as a springboard into work-based-learning for 16-18 year olds and an alternative education provider for 14-16 year-olds who are not achieving their full potential in mainstream schooling.

Students can choose from a range of City and Guilds-accredited qualifications as well as the Construction skills Certificate Scheme.

In addition to hands-on courses, students also learn a range of numeracy, communications and language skills.

Malcolm Duncan, Managing Director of Super Rod of Super Rod commented on the Barnardo's led construction skills scheme.

The work and effort Barnardo's have put into changing the future for so many children and young adults in the UK is truly admirable, the construction skills scheme is just one example of the great work this charity has managed to achieve, if everyone helps just a little, it goes to show what can be achieved collectively.
