The company has developed numerous bespoke designs for companies, all at a reasonable cost.

Synectic Design are able to offer this service at such a cost because of our modular design methods with both hardware and software, allowing for simple modification of existing designs to produce a bespoke design.

In the spring of 2006 Synectic Design were approached by Cepac (based in Rotherham, UK) ,who are a cardboard packaging company for the food industry.

They were interested in reducing waste from their factory.

To do this they wanted to weigh the amount of waste each department produced, to initially assess who was creating the most waste, and then using it as method of comparing departments, effectively creating competition between departments.

Synectic Design has duly designed a product for the job.

The product designed is called the Synectic Design Solutions Waste Management System.

The system is essentially a Synectic weighing batch controller linked to an SY046 (a 24bit load cell amplifier, with a remote tare function).

On the front of the unit there is full numeric, vandal proof keypad linked to a 2 line, 16 character backlit display (individual characters are approximately 9mm high).

The unit logs all of the waste coming from each of the departments.

The waste is identified to a department via a rugged electronic key which is inserted into the front of the unit by the individual from that department; the key designed for this unit is more failsafe than a card reader which is normally used with similar units.

The key is inserted into the unit before the waste is deposited in the hopper of the waste disposal unit.

The waste is weighed in the hopper via load cells, it is then logged, after which the unit controls the shredder.

In the situation where the threshold of the main bin is full, the unit stops the shredder, ties and compresses the rubbish; after which the unit continues the shredding process.

The unit has a special tare function which depends on the information related to the key, this will allow for the different pallets used by different departments.

The data for each load of waste deposited is logged internally and on the connected remote PC.

The remote PC has a user friendly PC interface and is connected to the control unit via RS232 or RS485 connection, or radio modem.

This waste management system is ideal for the current and future requirements of numerous businesses as to reduce our impact on the environment we need to control the amount of waste we produce.
