Constructing better health for builders
David Wilson Homes is supporting a scheme to improve Leicestershire builders' health.
Commenting on the decision to donate funds to ensure the viability of the pilot which is testing ways in which help, advice and guidance on occupational health issues may be provided effectively to smaller builders, Wates group HR director Ken Baker said: "While Wates has grown to become a major contractor, it recognises that it and its peers have an important role to play in helping smaller companies in the industry to safeguard the health of their workers".
"Constructing Better Health is spearheading how the building industry responds to this need to ensure its sustainability".
Stephen Harvey, company secretary at John Doyle Group, added: "The building industry will perform best with a workforce that is fit for the job".

Backing for the industry's occupational health support pilot Constructing Better Health continues to grow.
Accreditation For AEC Director
AEC's founding director, James Ferguson, has received Action Energy accreditation for his unique approach to diagnosing improvements in HVAC control strategies.
"For too long too many people have either left or been forced out of building because of its affect on their health".
"We are supporting Constructing Better Health because we see it as an excellent way of addressing this problem for the benefit of individuals, companies and the economy".
Chairman of the Constructing Better Health board George Brumwell CBE concludes: "These donations are extremely welcome and begin to demonstrate the contractors' commitment to resolving occupational health issues".
"They understand that Constructing Better Health is offering practical solutions that help workers, their employers and the industry as a whole".
"However, we need further contributions from contractors and others so that Constructing Better Health may test its objectives and lay the foundations for an effective nationwide occupational health support scheme".
Funds for the pilot are held and administered by B and CE Charitable Trust (a registered charity), and organisations donating to the project may be eligible for tax relief of up to 30% on their contribution when made through the Trust.
