Multi-module PCBs for smoke and heat detectors

A System Sensor Europe product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 14, 2003

System Sensor Europe has introduced four new multi-module PCBs for use in conjunction with its Series 200 plus addressable smoke and heat detectors.

The new units provide the functionality of either six or ten individual modules, integrated onto a single monolithic PCB and primarily intended for use in larger, more complex systems or where a high density of I/O is required in one location.

Individual modules, for either bulkhead or DIN rail mounting, continue to be available.

Monitors and control modules are used to supervise and activate sounders, strobes, door releases, break glass call points and other ancillary devices; they are also used to interface between an intelligent fire system and a conventional two-wire installation and to operate normally open devices.

The four different types of multi-module are: 1] Six independent form C relays, typically used for plant shutdown or door release, individually controllable from the fire alarm control panel.

2] Six independent supervised outputs, individually controllable from the fire alarm control panel, are typically used for sounder/strobe control.

3] Six conventional detector zone interfaces, typically used during the upgrade of a conventional fire detection system to an analogue addressable system.

4] Ten individually supervised inputs, typically used to interface with other subsystems.

The address for the first module is manually assigned using rotary decade switches; subsequent addresses are automatically allocated and unused addresses can be disabled.

Interconnections to all models are made via removable plug-in terminal blocks and the boards can be mounted in a metal wall mounted enclosure if required.
