Advanced Interiors completes hospital fit-out

An Advanced Interiors product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 13, 2010

Advanced Interiors has been awarded the Judges Gold Award by the Association of Interior Specialists (AIS) for its work at the Royal Chelsea Hospital.

AIS represents the whole spectrum of companies involved in the manufacture, supply and installation of interior fit-outs and refurbishment.

The Judges Award was introduced for projects that included special elements that do not naturally fit into the standard categories of the awards.

The Chelsea Royal Hospital is home to more than 400 pensioners who are all former non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the British Army.

The new infirmary, set within the hospital's 66 acre grounds by the River Thames, was built by Wates Construction, who had been on site since October 2006.

Advanced Interiors was appointed as main fit-out contactors for the infirmary and started work in June 2009.

The contract required continual presence on site by its specialist project team for the duration of the one year project.

Advanced Interiors was responsible for all internal walls and ceilings of the bedrooms, corridors, other common areas and specialist work in the Chapel of Rest.

The internal walls of the bedrooms are finished with traditional basecoat and skim plaster, whilst the corridors are drylined and set to work with the cabinet joinery.

A bespoke cast plaster coving finished off the regal feel to the space within the corridors.

The Chapel of Rest has ornate features and details.

The contract was one of the largest special projects undertaken by Advanced Interiors to date and was completed ahead of schedule.

Advanced Interiors is part of the HSi Interiors Group of companies.
