TAC employee achieves lifetime goal of climbing the Mount Everest summit Location

Integration tools and services manager Graham Blackmun has braved the elements to climb the world's highest mountain, with help and support from his colleagues at TAC Raising almost GBP1,500 for the Macmillan Trust, Graham, who has worked for the company for over thirty years, has taken time out of his daily job as a software developer providing engineering packages for clients such as Cadburys and the University of Swansea to follow his passion for mountaineering, facing his biggest challenge yet

Graham reached the summit of Mount Everest on 16th May, climbing the 29,028ft that makes the summit the highest point in the world.

After acclimatising for several days in Tibet, Graham started his climb from the north ridge and from start to finish it took six weeks to reach the summit.

He has been mountaineering for over fifteen years, but Graham agrees that this was the first and will be the last time he will attempt to climb Mount Everest.

Only around 400 people complete the ascent to the summit each year, making this a demanding and sometimes gruelling challenge.

The support and encouragement he received from his work colleagues really spurred him on to achieving his lifetime ambition.

Graham comments: "I am so grateful to everyone at TAC - my colleagues have contributed nearly 90 per cent of the money raised, which shows that they really believed I could do it".

"Climbing Mount Everest has always been a goal I wanted to accomplish and now I've done it!".

Roger Moncur, technical services director at TAC and Graham's boss comments: "We are very proud that Graham has been able to fulfil this amazing journey".

"As a company we support our staff that make the most of their work-life balance and as a colleague to Graham, it is great that the money raised is going to the charity of his choice.".
