New TRADA Chairman
Richard Burbidge is new TRADA Chairman
Richard Burbidge OBE, Chairman and Chief Executive of Richard Burbidge , was unanimously elected Chairman of TRADA, the Timber Research and Development Association, at its AGM on 7th July 2005 He succeeds John Perry, who stands down after two years in office

Mr Burbidge has been a Board member for seven years and has therefore been close to the many changes which have taken place within TRADA during this time, not least the development and launch of the askTRADA website.
He said, "I have always held TRADA in the highest regard.
It is vital for any industry to have a body that gives technical support and, from a base in research, publishes information for both suppliers and users.
TRADA ably fulfils that role for timber and I am delighted to be appointed Chairman at a time when our reputation is at an all time high.
The launch of the website has been a huge success, as evidenced by increased membership and subscription income.
We have much to build on for the future".
Also unanimously elected to the Board were: Tom R Bruce-Jones, Director of James Jones and Sons ; Dr Mike Cook, Partner, Buro Happold; Dr Ian Goldsmith, Group Planning Director, Travis Perkins plc; and Roddy Langmuir, award-winning architect with Edward Cullinan Architects.
In addition, members formally approved the appointment of Tony Hutchison, Commercial Director of Potton , who was co-opted onto the Board in February this year.
TRADA Chief Executive Andrew Abbott said that TRADA was privileged that the Board could draw upon senior representatives from a broad cross-section of the construction industry.
He paid tribute to John Perry and to departing board members Gordon Callander, Peter Clegg, Michael Dickson CBE and John Griffiths, for their enthusiasm and support during their time in office.
