TRADA Technology new Wood Information Sheet, Specifying wood-based panels for structural use, to assist sellers, buyers and specifiers to understand new requirements.

TRADA Technology has issued a new Wood Information Sheet, Specifying wood-based panels for structural use, to assist sellers, buyers and specifiers to understand new requirements, including CE marking.

Wood-based panels used for permanent incorporation in 'construction works' have to meet the requirements of the Construction Products Directive.

The easiest way for a designer or specifier to ensure that the product selected meets legal requirements is to specify a product that is CE marked in line with BS EN 13986 Wood-based panels for use in construction.

The new Wood Information Sheet lists the types and grades of panel designated as suitable for structural use, including fibreboard, oriented strand board (OSB), particleboard, plywood and solid wood panels.

It outlines the properties that must be tested and those where standard values may be used.

Design aspects are included, along with a checklist for correct specification.

In addition, three example specifications, with detailed notes on purchasing and legal requirements, are included, making the new publication an invaluable reference source.
