TRADA and BRE enter information agreement
TRADA Technology and BRE Bookshop have entered an information exchange agreement to ensure that output from research projects is more widely circulated.
TRADA Technology and BRE Bookshop have entered an information exchange agreement to ensure that output from research projects is more widely circulated.
As Ross Sturley, Managing Director of BRE Bookshop, commented,"While BRE and TRADA might be seen to be competing for research funding, it is crucial for both organisations to ensure that research findings are widely distributed to the right audience.
This not only adds value to the research itself, it also adds value for the funding bodies and encourages further research".
Under the new agreement, TRADA members will receive timber-related BRE papers and guides in their regular mailings, while subscribers to the BRE monthly 'Connect' information service will receive relevant TRADA publications.
The first documents to be exchanged will be BRE's Information Paper 'Incising UK-grown Sitka spruce' and the latest TRADA Wood Information Sheet on Fire Doors.
TRADA Head of Information Jeremy Vibert said: "In an environment where it is increasingly difficult to attract funding for research, it is more important than ever to demonstrate that it has a practical application in the market.
There is no better way to do this than through accessible information.
Our agreement with BRE is an important step for the construction industry as a whole, as between us we reach right across the supply chain".
