TRADA Technology , through its specialist frameCHECK service, is taking timber frame on the road with a new training course entitled 'The A-Z of Timber Frame'.

TRADA Technology , through its specialist frameCHECK service, is taking timber frame on the road with a new training course entitled 'The A-Z of Timber Frame'.

The one-day course encompasses many aspects of timber frame, including market position, design, manufacture, erection, reference to Approved documents E, L and B, disproportionate collapse, differential movement and cladding.

The roadshow is aimed at designers, manufacturers, builders and project managers.

Attendees will be encouraged to raise specific questions on the day.

2006 dates and venues:.

14 March - Dublin.

30 March - Warrington.

9 May - Gloucester.

25 May - High Wycombe.

12 July - Wakefield.

Cost is GBP195 + VAT for TRADA members and GBP235 + Vat for non-members.

In addition to 'The A-Z of Timber Frame', frameCHECK offers three further one-day training courses.

These courses will take place at frameCHECK's High Wycombe headquarters.

The cost for each is GBP180 + VAT for TRADA members and GBP220 + VAT for non-members.

* Timber frame: manufacture and erection looks at the reasons for material selection, the sequence of manufacturing, component tolerances and proven methods for rapid and accurate erection.

The importance of proper sole plate layout is also discussed.

for those new to this popular method of building, it will give a market overview, as well as guidance on construction details.

Date: 17 May 2006.

* Timber frame buildings: design and build, a technical update focusing on the important link between good design and build quality in achieving high performance.

Practical issues will be covered, including foundation tolerances, structural load paths and acoustic, thermal and fire requirements.

Date: 12 June 2006.
