TRADA gives guidance on life cycle
costing.

TRADA Technology has published a new Wood Information Sheet, 'Life cycle costing', to assist designers and specifiers understand the processes and methodologies which may be applied.

Life cycle costing (LCC) considers construction costs, from design and planning to construction, as well as costs in use, including maintenance, refurbishment, operational, occupancy and end of life costs Detailed guidance will become available when the international standard on life cycle costing, ISO 15685-5 Buildings and constructed assets

Service life planning.

Life cycle costing, along with a UK LCC supplement, is published later this year.

Life cycle costing originated in the 1960s but the UK government's drive to promote sustainability has placed renewed emphasis on the need to understand the true cost of construction.
