TRADA reviews Q-Mark scheme for trussed rafters

A TRADA Technology product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 11, 2010

TRADA Technology and BM TRADA Certification have revised the third-party Q-Mark certification scheme for trussed rafters to cover open web beams, working closely with the Trussed Rafter Association.

The review has come following three separate legislative developments.

CE marking to the revised version of EN 14250 'Timber structures - Product requirements for prefabricated structural members assembled with punched metal plate fasteners', is now available.

In addition, the timber structural code BS 5268 has been substantially withdrawn by BSI and will be replaced by Eurocode 5 from 31 March.

BM TRADA has further extended the Q-Mark scheme to provide certification 'to assist in the CE marking of open web beams' covered by a European technical Approval (ETA) held by Wolf, MiTek, Gang Nail or Alpine (now ITW Industry).

BM TRADA has written to TRA members outlining the changes and setting out the cost implications, which are minimal for existing scheme members.
