Tarkett Marley Floors interact with innovative gym
When Harry Redknapp, manager of Portsmouth FC, opened the first interactive gym in the UK, Tarkett Marley Floors were in on the act from the start.
When football legend and manager of Portsmouth FC, Harry Redknapp, opened the first interactive gym in the UK, Tarkett Marley Floors were in on the act from the start.
The gym at Horndean Technology College in Hampshire has been purpose built for the X box generation in order for young people to get fit with computer games.
The state of the art gym offers a range of up to the minute computer games but these consoles are worked by the body rather than the thumbs, so whilst the children's mind is in a game, their body is in a workout.
Because of flooring requirements to accommodate the dance mats and interactive equipment, specialist flooring from Tarkett Marley Floors was specified by sponsors and contractors, PA Beveridge Flooring.
Omnisport Pro was deemed the most suitable as the product has been developed as a sports floorcovering with a closed cell cushioning beneath a tough playing surface that provides elasticity at the point of impact.
"We wanted flooring that was soft underfoot for the children but at the same time, would provide the required hard wearing properties that dance and interactive activity would require," comments Richard Hawkins from PA Beveridge.
"Tarkett Marley Floors presented us with the ideal solution with its Omnisport Pro".
Omnisport Pro is from the company's specialist sports range and comprises a durable, high performance wear layer with PU protection, which is extremely easy to maintain and clean.
Tested in accordance with BS7044 Part 4 and meeting all the stringent requirements of the European Standards, Omnisport Pro is simple to lay, with fewer joints due to the size of the sheets in two metre lengths.
The activity solutions within the gym focus on the ideal active play by fusing entertainment with exercise.
'Exer-tainment' is taken to the next level by offering an entire room of interactive games to encourage youngsters of all ages to exercise.
