Pioneering vinyl floor recycling scheme launched
Pioneering recycling scheme for vinyl flooring has been launched in the UK by Recovinyl and Tarkett-Marley Floors.
Tarkett's Acczent Wood, which is available in a choice of nineteen different wood effects, is a line that emulates the look of real wood flooring.
It was used because its rich saturated colours combined with the beautiful texture and look of wood flooring creates a warm dynamic atmosphere ideal for use in commercial areas where people meet and spend time.
It also possesses excellent wear and tear and low maintenance properties and the Sanitized treatment protects the floorcovering from premature ageing caused by micro-organisms, and provides hygiene benefits in sensitive areas.
Tarkett's Megalit, a totally new look in homogeneous vinyl flooring, based on unique technology, was used in the clinical areas.
Megalit is the first homogeneous flooring in the highest wear group (Class T, EN 660).
Its patent pending manufacturing process and unique technical advances give properties such as improved resistance to scratches, abrasion and stains, along with superior material strength and flexibility.
Megalit, which is available in 24 versatile colours, has a characteristic pattern which is achieved by using vinyl flakes in different shapes and sizes, and a high proportion of transparent material in the mix to give its unique and visually appealing appearance.
Safety is a critical issue in hospitals, so Granit Multisafe, one of Tarkett's range of homogeneous high-quality floorings, was specified in all of the showers and bathrooms.
It is a special flooring for wet areas, which provides a good grip for feet even when the floor is wet and slippery.
The dense, impermeable surface and well-rounded studs mean Granit Multisafe is hygienic and easy to clean.
In addition Tarkett's design department has worked intensively to develop Granit's colour collection to meet architect's requirements and the result is a wide selection of subdued colours with a strong character and contemporary feel.
All of Tarkett's products are an excellent choice from both functional and economic aspects.
The PUR reinforced wear PVC wear layer gives good resistance to abrasion, scuffing and tearing.
Maintenance and cleaning can be kept to a minimum and costs reduced by up to 30%.
Bearing in mind that 92% of a flooring's total life cycle cost is for maintenance, substantial savings can be made.
