MacGregor Flooring has now installed new floorcovering in school entrance hall after 'Design A Floor' competition winning design was selected out of entries from over 50 schools across the UK.

In 2007, Tarkett ran their popular 'Design A Floor' competition, inviting secondary school pupils to think creatively and come up with inspired designs to transform a room in their school, using linoleum xf as the flooring material.

The winning design was selected out of entries from over 50 schools across the UK and was produced by Louise Ferguson, a student at Girvan Academy, South Ayrshire.

Beating off stiff competition, Louise's entry demonstrated not only creative design but also an understanding of the science of interior design, and the flooring material specified for use.

Mike Harrison, Marketing Manager for Tarkett said: "We really felt that Louise had considered the impact of bold design in the proposed setting and had also given thought to the existing decor".

"It is a fabulously colourful design".

MacGregor Flooring has now installed the new floorcovering in the school's entrance hall, where it complements the seasonal murals on the walls.

Together with Tarkett's Floorcraft Service, they worked hard to ensure every detail was accurately recreated in the linoleum xf flooring.

Commenting on the installation Ray Birnie, Headteacher at the Academy, said: "We are extremely pleased with the new flooring".

"Louise's design has been recreated superbly and we've had a lot of compliments from parents and visitors".

"It provides a truly stunning entrance to the school.".
