Tarkett's Safetred Dimension safety flooring installed in major refurbishment at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock.

Over 500m2 was installed throughout the new pharmacy, main entrance and patient areas Crosshouse Hospital is the principal general hospital in North and East Ayrshire

With 553 beds, accident and emergency facilities and a new maternity unit, it provides healthcare services to approximately 220,000 people.

The recent refurbishment included installation of a new pharmacy robot - the first of its kind in Scotland.

This automated storage and retrieval system will allow faster dispensing of prescriptions and free staff to dedicate more time to patients.

Angus Dick, Principal Estate Officer at NHS Ayrshire and Arran said: "We chose Tarkett's Safetred Dimension specifically for its ease of cleaning and slip-resistant properties".

"We are pleased with the installation, which was completed with a high level of workmanship by the Muir Group".

Safetred Dimension was specified for the refurbishment as it offers high slip resistance combined with ease of maintenance.

With an R10 slip-resistance rating enhanced by the inclusion of aluminium oxide granules, Safetred Dimension gives excellent slip resistance both wet and dry, and because it is manufactured to EN 13845, this protection will be sustained throughout its lifetime.

Safetred Dimension also benefits from a Safety Clean PUR reinforcement that provides a durable and easy to clean surface.

Maintenance costs can be reduced by up to 30% and the environment benefits through a 50% reduction in the consumption of water, energy and detergents needed for cleaning.

In addition, Safetred Dimension contains up to 25% recycled material, further enhancing its environmental credentials.

Safetred Dimension's 16 colour options can be used individually or in combination to create modern contemporary designs to suit any application.

The attractive 3 dimensional pattern incorporates multi-coloured and pearlescent chips to provide a stunning appearance.

Dimension's flexibility makes it easy to lay and allows coving for better appearance and a hygienic solution to the junction of walls and floors.
