Topfloor's Green Policy Set In Concrete Tarmac Topfloor, the Derbyshire based manufacturer and installer of precast concrete flooring and staircases, has taken a major step in its commitment to driving up environmental standards by achieving the internationally renowned ISO14001 standard.

Being ISO14001 certified means Topfloor has demonstrated that it has formalised its environmental procedures to address all the aspects of its production and their impact on the environment.

By gaining the certification, Topfloor has established a benchmark from which to continually improve its operations and carefully monitor areas such as water consumption, energy efficiency, control of hazardous substances and waste minimisation.

"Receiving ISO14001 certification is a great achievement for us as it provides the official recognition of our efforts," says Paul Hobson, Tarmac Topfloor's managing director.

"There were a number of important reasons for securing the certification, but principally we feel it offers clear evidence to both our industry and the local communities around our production facilities that we are doing everything we can to operate in an environmentally conscious way." Amongst the environmental initiatives already in place or planned in the near future at its factories are improvements in the storage of oil and chemicals and modifications to silos and mixers.

These are set to reduce Topfloor's energy consumption and emissions to the air, water and ground even further.
