Fastfloor Heatsave, the highly energy efficient flooring system from Tarmac Topfloor, has been used in the construction of a series of new residential developments by leading Yorkshire housebuilder Consort Homes.

Recently named in a survey as one of the fastest growing companies in Yorkshire, Consort Homes built 80 units across 7 developments in the region in 2003.

These included 2-bed apartments, 3-bed semi-detached houses and luxury 3, 4 and 5-bed detached houses at Gomersal; Morley; Barwick-in-Elmet; Hightown; Baildon and Pool-in-and Wharfedale.

The houses and apartments at Barwick-in-Elmet; Hightown and Baildon are amongst the homes that have already benefited from the Heatsave flooring system.

Offering a highly energy efficient approach to the construction of the ground floors, Heatsave is a development of Topfloor's proven Fastfloor beam and block flooring system By using prestressed concrete T beams infilled with purpose designed expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels, Heatsave provides excellent thermal insulation and 'U' values achievable of less than 0.25W/m2K.

Commenting on the decision to choose the Heatsave system, Consort Homes' Sales Director, Chris Thompson says "We have very high standards for our homes, something which we are very proud of, and we look for suppliers with the same high standards.

Tarmac Topfloor provide a quality, effective product with Fastfloor Heatsave, and it has helped us to keep improving our homes and apartments as well as meeting the required thermal insulation levels".

The very low 'U' values achievable with Fastfloor Heatsave ensure housebuilders can effectively accommodate the stringent thermal requirements for housing under the ever tougher Part L of the Building Regulations.

In addition, the lightweight EPS panels are easy to handle and their design facilitates high-speed installation.
