Henley Management College wins on the water front
Tana Water UK has announced a major contract to supply Henley Management College with mains-fed water machines in all conference and training rooms.
Innovative water delivery system saves labour and costs at centre of excellence.
The plumbed-in machines filter and chill tap water instead of using bottled water, easing the staff workload, reducing plastic waste and helping the College to meet ISO 1401 European Standards for carbon footprint and environmental policies.
Situated by the river Thames, site of the famous regatta, Henley Management College delivers management development programmes to blue chip companies and attracts delegates from all over the world.
To support the move to filtering tap water, the College installed plumbing to all 43 of its meeting, syndicate and conference rooms, an impressive initiative for a listed building.
The Tana Water machines can be situated anywhere within 20 metres of a mains water supply and filter out chlorine, limescale, rust and lead and sterilise the water using ultraviolet light.
Explaining the switch to mains-fed water machines Dereck St.Clair, Catering Conference Service Manager comments, "Henley Management College occupies a vast site and it was extremely labour intensive to keep 43 water coolers replenished".
"Five gallon water bottles were being delivered to the College and then staff members were having to carry these 19kg bottles up the stairs and along the corridors".
"It was backbreaking work and I really believe that our employees have better things to be doing".
"With Tana machines our delegates can see exactly where the water has come from and be assured that it is freshly filtered".
The Henley Management College installation follows closely on the news that Tana Water has been selected as a supplier of mains-fed water machines to the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency".
"Water For Health Hydration Best Practice Toolkit for Hospitals and Healthcare," estimates that while bottle-fed water coolers cost GBP6 for each 19 litre bottle, amounting to approximately GBP1,000 a year per machine, mains-fed machines cost less than 2p for every 19 litres of water dispensed.
Nick Heane, Managing Director of Tana Water UK commented, "We are delighted to see that Henley Management College is leading the way in embracing the environmental and HR benefits of filtering and chilling tap water, rather than buying in hundreds of bottles of water a year for delegates".
"Not only does this represent a major saving in carbon emissions, but also offers substantial cost savings for a facility of this size.".
