Tamdown fences in the Braintree Rock Festival
Tamdown have played a vital part in restoring the Notley Bowl to its intended use as a unique and exciting entertainment venue.
goers at one of Essex's biggest-ever live music events were able to rock in safety - thanks to the generosity of a leading civil engineering and regeneration company.
Civil engineers, the Tamdown Group, who usually remediate and install groundworks, infrastructure and concrete frames on some of the country's largest development sites, gave up both their time and heavy equipment to install 1750 metres of mesh panel fencing around the perimeters of the amphitheatre at the Notley Bowl in Braintree, to enable the town's first ever rock extravaganza to take place.
Chris Dore, director of Tamdown which has offices in both Braintree and Maidenhead, said: "Tamdown is very proud to have played a vital part in restoring the Notley Bowl to its intended use as a unique and exciting entertainment venue for everyone in the Braintree and mid-Essex area.
"Our specialist team installed the donated security fencing using our own equipment and then dismantled it afterwards.
It meant the event complied with all the necessary health and safety conditions and ensured it went ahead".
A share of all the ticket sales from the Braintree Rock event were donated to a local charity PARC - Play and Resource Centre for Disabled Children, which is looking to raise £20,000 towards a new purpose-built centre for its work.
Tamdown also donated a free tarmac surface for a new adventure playground area for PARC in the Great Notley Country Park.
Chris Dore added: "Tamdown is proud of its strong local presence and the Braintree Rock gave us a great opportunity to put something back into the town - and for such a fun and worthy cause".
Braintree Rock's spokesman, David Mears, said: "Tamdown's support of the Braintree Rock showed just how much enthusiasm there was for the Braintree Rock in our business community and we were proud to have them on board for this unique and exciting event".
PARC's Business Manager, Georgina Rhymes, adds: "Our charity is very grateful to Tamdown for its on-going support - it makes a big difference to the lives of so many families of children with special needs".
Headline acts at Braintree Rock which took place on Saturday 2 September included The Stranglers, The Blockheads, Phill Jupitus, Dr Feelgood as well as unsigned local bands.
