Davies (Cardiff) have been forced to expand their warehouse capacity to accommodate demand.

The Cardiff distributor, probably the UK's largest independent in the industry, is in the process of expanding their current warehouse capacity by a further 50%.

The move will improve logistical efficiency and give greater flexibility to deal with customer requirements.

Bob Baldock, General Manager commented; "we have 40 foot containers coming in here from all over the world, on a regular basis, we simply needed more room to accommodate the stock." Work is already underway and should be complete by the start of business in the January.

"Holding the appropriate stocks levels is imperative for us and our customers - we have to strike a fine balance between timing and quantity to get the mix right." T.B.

Davies supplies many of the branch-based industrial and mail order catalogues, as well as local authorities, traditional retailers and industrial end-users with steps, ladders, staircases and related products, across the UK.

The Cardiff business celebrates 60 years in the industry in 2005.
