Little Giant ladder system helping to win awards

Access to various fittings and areas at Lymm Water Tower was extremely difficult - the solution was to provide a pair of multi-purpose Little Giant ladders

Access equipment specialist T.B.Davies (Cardiff) was delighted to hear an ambitious project they supported has won a coveted award.

Lymm Water Tower was the ambitious brainchild of Russell and Jannette Harris.

Based in the leafy Cheshire village of Lymm, the Victorian water tower has taken 8 years to complete with the build budget spiraling from £75,000 to an amazing £550,000.

Russell Harris helped finance the project by utilizing is media connections to make a documentary of the project for UKTV.

The Russell's also controversially managed to rent out space on top of the tower to a number of mobile phone companies, for extremely lucrative rents.

Russell approached T.B.Davies in 2004 for help.

Because of the confined and unusual nature of the water tower (round) - access to various fittings and areas was extremely difficult.

The solution was to provide a pair of multi-purpose Little Giant ladders - giving flexible access options around the site.

The Little Giant (4-rung) has 24 usable configurations from one ladder unit - it can be used as an A-frame step, a 90 degree step, on stairs, as two trestles and of course as an extension ladder.

After eight years of toil the house is now complete and worth in excess of £2 million.

The house was recently awarded the Daily Telegraph Overall Best Self Build project of 2005.
