New London Venue For Architecture And The Arts

London's newest venue, dedicated to architecture, building and the arts, The Window Galleries, at The Building Centre in Store Street, launch alongside a remarkable exhibition, Digital Fabricators.

"The Window Galleries will take The Building Centre into a new era," says Hugh Try, Chairman of the Building Centre Trust.

"The space at the front of the building has been rearticulated and refurbished by Block Architecture, giving us the facility to host compelling exhibitions and events that are open to all.

It is a welcome addition to existing London venues that deal with the built environment, architecture and the associated arts." Launching with Digital Fabricators, a narrative exhibition about state of the art digital techniques, the Window Galleries will host a series of events that explore the cutting edge of building, architecture and the arts.

Commissioned and run by The Building Centre Trust, future themes include Building and Childhood, The Thames Gateway and New Approaches to Housing.

Running concurrent to the series is a Trust lecture programme featuring The Fabricators series, the Prefabulous Home and Concrete Elegance.

Digital Fabricators will be followed by a joint initiative with the Royal Academy, hosting a touring exhibition on the new design for the Mariinsky Theatre by Dominique Perrault.

A design showcase of materials used within award-winning architecture will be another regular attraction at the Window Galleries.

Focusing on design, state of the art finishes and the architects interpretation and use of them, Products in Practice presents Glass and Glazing in September followed by Sheppard Robson's Toyota Headquarters in December and the Gateshead Sage by Foster and Partners in early 2005.
