The Building Centre's stand represented various product manufacturers within the architectural, building and construction industry.

Located in a prime position within the structural halls, The Building Centre's stand represented various product manufacturers within the architectural, building and construction industry together with The Building Centre Bookshop and product information services.

The Show attracted over 44,500 visitors (unaudited).

The Interbuild 2006 new product awards were also announced at the show, featuring all the short listed products displaying the very best in manufacturing innovation.

The Building Centre sponsored the 'Best overall Product' the winner of this prestige category were solarcentury, repeating their 2004 award success at this year's show with their CompleteSolarRoof and also winning the 'best product for the building envelope' award.

Disguised as conventional roof tiles, the award-winning C21e solar electric tiles and the brand new C21t solar thermal tiles together form the CompleteSolarRoof, generating electricity and hot water respectively - even in cloudy conditions.

They offer a unique patented combination of solar thermal and solar photovoltaic tiles that integrate with standard roof tiles.

The CompleteSolarRoof offers significant savings on energy bills to the end-users and enables developers to meet challenging carbon reduction requirements enforced through the planning system: The first CompleteSolarRoof was installed on St James Homes show houses in Reading, Berkshire.

solarcentury design engineer, Martin Berry adds: "It's a fantastic achievement for our CompleteSolarRoof to win the highest accolade for innovation at Interbuild".

"The new solar tiles combine a tried and tested architectural elegance with energy efficiency, turning a home into an individual and silent emissions-free power station".

Head judge and Construction Products Association chief executive, Michael Ankers said: "solarcentury has been leading the way in the use of solar power in building".

"It wins the award because of continuous improvement and innovation.".
