Alongside its programme of events, The Building Centre houses an unrivalled library of innovative building products, materials and technologies accessible to both trade and public.

This resource, at the heart of the capital, provides a rare opportunity to experience, touch and feel what is to revolutionise future buildings and the way we live.

The Building Centre is well known as one of the country's leading providers of education resources for professionals within the construction industry.

2007 highlights include an exhibition on the challenges, responses and progress to climate change for a sustainable 21st century capital city; a series of lectures on materials in sustainable architecture; a professor who links the human brain to virtual environments; and a discussion with two of the hottest digital architects on the planet.

Upgrading Humans - Technical Realities and New Morals Professor Kevin Warwick, Dept.

of Cybernetics, University of Reading Will an individual whose brain is part human/part machine have abilities that far surpass those who remain with a human brain alone? Implant technology is rapidly diminishing the effects of certain neural illnesses and distinctly increasing the range of abilities of those affected.

A key element of this is the need for a clear interface linking the human brain directly with a computer.

Future prospects for this technology are tantalisingly close to turning science fiction into fact.

Hernan Diaz Alonso is one of the most gifted of an emerging second wave of architects using computer animation software.
