Construction Industry Better Deal On Software

A Chartered Institute of Building [CIOB] product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 15, 2004

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced that it will be offering its members access to a range of IT resources as part of a special CAD and IT service.

The aim of the programme is to provide members with quality-based, simple and cost effective lines of supply and technical support.

The new initiative, launched in January 2004 by Soft Landing Partnership, will now see members offered IMSI's flagship design product called TurboCAD with up to 25% discount.

The professional version focuses on bringing the user increased power, inter-operability and ease of use at an affordable price.

With the construction industry relying heavily on CAD and IT, businesses and individuals recognise the need to invest in new technologies to ensure a level pace with changing construction processes and business practices.

However, much of this investment is wasted due to the fact that IT suppliers do not always adequately instruct the users how best to maximise the technology that they have at their disposal.

To help members improve productivity and ensure a greater return on that investment the CIOB has been working with quality CAD, IT, training and technical support suppliers to remove possible problems and ensure that purchase through implementation to support is a swift and effective process.

David Clarke of Soft Landing Partnership says, "Despite the widespread development of sophisticated computer technology for the UK construction industry, there seems to be very little progress made in productivity, efficiency, profitability and evolution of beneficial business practices.

We now hope to see this begin to change and the partnership with TurboCAD takes us one step closer to our ultimate goal." John Goodson, Marketing Director of MediaGold, UK republishers of TurboCAD added, "We are delighted with this recent partnership with the CIOB as procuring CAD and IT services, including software purchase, training, maintenance, upgrades and technical support can be a lottery.

Often the relationship between CAD and related IT is either not explained or understood, leading to problems of incompatibility and disappointment.

We now intend to ensure that this in no longer the case." CIOB members will now be able to benefit from over 40 new features and significant improvements that have been developed using the latest technology and rigorous research of the demands of existing TurboCAD users.

The aim has been to make working efficiency more accurate and faster whilst maintaining an affordable package accessible to all.

CIOB members will also qualify for CPD (Continued professional development) points when they partake in TurboCAD training.
