The HSE is holding roadshows throughout South Yorkshire to warn construction workers of the dangers of working at height Falling from heights is the biggest single cause of death and the second most common cause of injury in the construction industry, with 67 people killed and nearly 4,000 injured in 2003-4

The HSE hopes to highlight how easily accidents can be avoided.

"The message of how to reduce falls from height is not yet being put into practice by everybody working in this industry," said the HSE's Mark Welsh.

"Given that most work at height accidents are preventable there is no excuse for not ensuring that all work being carried out at height is done safely".

It is hoped that 550 workers will attend the roadshows in Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley during October.
