'Urban Renaissance' Held Back By Funding Obstacles
London Assembly has called upon the UK Government to show more determination in assisting public and private sector organisations to find new ways of funding large-scale regeneration projects.
The developers will also be contracted to build a national skateboarding park to international specifications, using it as a skateboarding display arena in association with the 2012 Olympics.
Other facilities include a greyhound stadium with 3,500 spectator capacity complete with restaurants and bars, and a 4/5 star 120 bedroom hotel with associated leisure complex.
The selection was made through a formal assessment process involving both the Milton Keynes Partnership as land owner and Milton Keynes Council as planning authority.

Clear Channel Entertainment, formerly part of the Clear Channel Media Group, is now an independent company trading world-wide as Live Nation.
The final selection process involved a bid from Inter MK, developer of the new Milton Keynes stadium and owner of the Dons division one league football club that successfully relocated to Milton Keynes.
'Super flexible homes' plan.
The MK Partnership - a sub-committee of English Partnerships - has opened an exhibition of the masterplan drawn up by a Savills consultancy team for development of Tattenhoe Park on the west side of the new city.
The scheme aims to provide over 1,200 new homes, some 30 per cent of which are to be affordable.
Currently subject to a four-week consultation exercise, the draft plan recommends the building of 'super flexible homes' at Tattenhoe Park as a pioneering venture.
These would sit alongside other standard housing types and be spread across the 57 hectare site.
The 'super-flexible' concept enables a proportion of the houses to be built with future extension or adaptation in mind.
The plan requires that up to 30 per cent of all dwellings should be designed as 'super-flexible'.
The idea is to accommodate changing family circumstances, allowing people to adapt their homes as an alternative to moving.
