The Department for Trade and Industry have released figures relating to the amount of new construction orders in the year to December 2005.

The Department for Trade and Industry have released figures relating to the amount of new construction orders in the year to December 2005.

The findings were as follows:.

Overall:.

Orders in 2005 rose by 7% compared with 2004.

Orders in the fourth quarter of 2005 rose by 12% compared to the same period of 2004.

Orders in the fourth quarter of 2005 rose by 7% compared to the previous quarter.

Private Housing:.

Orders in the year to December 2005 rose by 5%.

Orders in the 3 months to December 2005 fell by 12% compared with the previous quarter, and by 1% when compared to the same period of 2004.

Public housing and housing association:.

Orders in the year to December 2005 rose by 8%.

Orders in the three months to December 2005 rose by 45%, compared with the previous quarter, an increase of 53% on the same period of 2004.

Infrastructure:.

Orders in the year to December 2005 rose by 35%.

Orders in the three months to December 2005 fell by 8% compared with the previous quarter, an increase of 20% on the same period of 2004 Public non-housing (excl.

infrastructure):.

Orders in the year to December 2005 fell by 9%.

Orders in the three months to December 2005 fell by 9%, and by 19% on the same period of 2004.

Private Commercial:.

Orders in the year to December 2005 rose by 3%.

Orders in the three months to December 2005 rose by 30% (31% up on the same period of 2004).

Private Industrial:.

Orders in the year to December 2005 rose by 23%.

Orders in the three months to December 2005 rose by 44% (up 27% on the same period of 2004).
