Applications to join building courses up to mid-January had risen by 16 per cent. Civil engineering courses are up by 25 per cent and architecture by 15 per cent.
Case study examples are there to give delegates in-depth practical knowledge of the method.
The course allows building designers and construction professionals to familiarise themselves with the new compliance method.
BRE Certification licensed by ODPM is running a 'competent persons' scheme for practitioners who want to use the method and can demonstrate their ability to undertake the energy rating calculations associated with Part L.
Assessment will be in the form of an examination and an exercise in the practical application of SBEM.
Calculations carried out by competent persons are deemed to meet the requirements of the building regulations for the purpose of building control.
As stated in the Government's latest paper on climate change, an e-learning pack on the new Part L is being issued to every building control surveyor.
