Celebrating Construction 2006 was co-hosted by Birmingham City Council, the CIOB and the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence.

The best of Birmingham's builders and demolition experts stepped into the spotlight at a city council event that showcased the stars of the city's construction industry Celebrating Construction 2006, which was co-hosted by Birmingham City Council, the CIOB and the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence, took place at the ICC and included the council's eighth annual Built in Quality and Quality in Demolition awards

Over 650 construction professionals and special guests attended these industry 'Oscars', including Lord Mayor Cllr John Hood, who presented the awards.

Organised by Building Consultancy, they celebrate high quality work by builders and demolition firms, both large and small.

Winners this year included extensions to family homes, new classrooms at St Brigid's School in Northfield, the volunteer-built Nishkam Centre in Handsworth, the demolition and the redevelopment of the Radleys estate in Sheldon and the Park Central scheme at Attwood Green.
