'Urban Renaissance' Held Back By Funding Obstacles
London Assembly has called upon the UK Government to show more determination in assisting public and private sector organisations to find new ways of funding large-scale regeneration projects.
John Caudwell, Chairman of the Yorkshire branch of the CIOB and a Projects Manager at Gleeson Regeneration was delighted with the standard of pictures received: "Gleeson works closely with the local community and it is clear from the entries we received that the children are aware of the dangers of playing near building sites.
Safety around our sites is of paramount importance and it is good to see the message is understood by local children." From hundreds of participating schools winners were chosen in five age categories, from infants up to secondary level.
The winning schools represented were Leyburn Primary School, Ackworth Howard JandI School in Pontefract, Totley All Saints Primary School in Sheffield and Kettlethorpe High School in Wakefield.
A further award for computer aided design was presented to Danum School Technology College in Doncaster.
"We would like to thank all participating schools and pass on our congratulations to the winners" added John Caudwell.
"The CIOB has always taken a strong stance on health and safety issues in the construction industry and we are grateful for the support Gleeson Regeneration and the CIOB's Graham Stoneman provided in organising the competition this year.".
