'Urban Renaissance' Held Back By Funding Obstacles
London Assembly has called upon the UK Government to show more determination in assisting public and private sector organisations to find new ways of funding large-scale regeneration projects.
In the last 4-years alone, Pera has worked with over 1,000 companies and has secured over £200m of funding for clients to deliver innovation and create intellectual property using funding mechanisms such as the DTI Technology Programme and the Eurpoean Framework Programmes.
The overall winner of the Innovation Competition will have access to around 55,000 worth of sponsorship in the form of a funding proposal from Pera.
The winner will see their innovative concept go through the stages needed for commercialisation.
Professor Colin Gray, Chair of the CIOB's Innovation and Research Panel commented: "I am delighted to welcome Pera as a major sponsor of the Institute's Innovation Awards".
"Pera's recognition of the place the Institute has in fostering new ideas and innovation in such an important industry is very encouraging".
"The awards to help develop new ideas for products will, I am sure, encourage the natural inventiveness and problem solving abilities of the membership".
Peter Davies, Chief Executive of Pera said: "We are excited at being invited to sponsor the CIOB's Innovation Competition".
"Pera has delivered many innovative projects and products into the construction industry in the last 10-years and we anticipate that the members of the CIOB will be a significant source of new ideas that will deliver safety, reliability, cost saving, energy saving and assembly benefits to the worldwide construction market".
Chris Blythe CIOB chief executive commented, "We hope that the partnership between Pera and ourselves will help innovators achieve their goals and I eagerly await the outcomes of next years Innovation Competition".
The 2006/2007 Innovation Competition will be launched in September 2006 and details will be made available on the CIOB's website and through its publications.
