The AMP NETCONNECT Division of Tyco Electronics has introduced the Mini RJ21 Connector System, a high-density modular copper cabling system.
"Traditional Ethernet connectors and cables are being designed into environments that far surpass the environmental specification of the standard connectors found in offices," comments Julian Riley, UK Business Manager of Tyco Electronics' AMP NETCONNECT business unit.
"As a result, there is a need for connectivity systems that can withstand these harsher environments, which are often found in factories, hospitals and outdoor environments.
The AMP NETCONNECT EtherSeal Connectivity System fills this niche." The EtherSeal Connectivity System, unlike many industrial connectors for harsh environments, offers an easy-to-use, positive coupling mechanism.
This system provides a positive, secure IP67 interface that utilises a push-on latch with audible feedback and a simple twist to disconnect, unlike traditional thread connectors, which can be difficult to use.
Ethernet is the standard for any application that requires data transmission or acquisition, combining cost-effectiveness, speed and reliability with the widespread acceptance needed for today's network applications.
EtherSeal connectors use components that are compliant with existing cabling standards, supporting data rates of up to 1 Gbit/s and adding the additional benefits of robust mechanical performance, construction and secure mating.
The new system uses the same high-performance AMP NETCONNECT Category 5e components as standard product lines.
It is available for 110 and toolless termination methods and with shielded and unshielded components.
The complete AMP NETCONNECT EtherSeal Connectivity System includes jack kits, plug kits, couplers, cable, cable assemblies and accessory products such as faceplates and enclosures.
This system not only offers compliance with existing standards and usability in harsh environments, but also the performance and reliability needed to secure networks for proposed and future applications.
