The AMP NETCONNECT Business Unit of Tyco Electronics is featuring its comprehensive range of network cabling solutions at Telecoms 07.

Products on show include the AMPTRAC intelligent infrastructure management system, XG copper and fibre cabling systems, and the MRJ21, MPO and Hi-D connectors The XG shielded copper cabling system solution is a twisted-pair system which delivers the performance needed to support 10GBASE-T and to exceed the channel requirements of the latest Class EA standards enabling 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission over a full 100-metre channel

It involves the application of several technological advances in cable and connectivity design.

The XG copper cabling system completes the existing Tyco Electronics AMP NETCONNECT XG cabling system solutions portfolio for 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which already includes single-mode fibre and multimode fibre to 300 metres (XG fibre cabling system).

The XG copper system has been tested to 625 MHz in worst-case scenario installations and has demonstrated a Shannon Capacity of greater than 19 Gbit/s, nearly twice the capacity of existing Category 6 UTP.

The MPO modular optical fibre-optic and MRJ 21 modular copper cabling systems are pre-terminated trunk cables, breakout cassettes and cable assemblies which offer simple plug-and-play installation, high-density connectors with more ports in less space, and the reliability to handle substantial data streams.

Combined with the AMP NETCONNECT AMPTRAC connectivity management system, they create an intelligent network where real-time tracking of cabling and connected devices reduces downtime.

The MPO fibre solution terminates 12 fibres in one MPO connector, which is similar in size to one SC simplex connector.

Modular cassettes provide a transition between the 12 fibres of the MPO connector to MT-RJ, MT-RJ SECURE, LC, ST-style or SC type interfaces.

The MRJ 21 copper system terminates high-performance Powersum 25-pair cable to one MRJ 21 connector, which replaces up to 12 RJ45 connectors.

Cassettes break out the cabling to standards-based wiring to support technologies like power over Ethernet and VoIP while providing easy migration to Gigabit Ethernet.

The MPO modular fibre-optic cabling system is available in 50 (m micron standard, 50 (m LOF, and 62.5 (m multimode and single-mode fibre types for applications today and into the future.

ST-style and SC cassettes each have one MPO connection while MT-RJ, MT-RJ SECURE and LC cassettes are available with one or two MPO connections.

The MRJ 21 modular copper cabling system is available with assemblies in various lengths and with MRJ 21 to MRJ 21, RJ21, or RJ45 modular plug configurations.

The Hi-D (High Density) system is a new cable management solution for data centres.

It can increase patch densities by, on average, 30% with improved cable management and access compared to traditional techniques.

The new system addresses the challenge of how data-centre capacity can be grown without increasing costly real estate space.

In particular, increasing the port density while maintaining, or decreasing, the required floor space requires a different design approach to traditional cable management systems.

The AMPTRAC connectivity management system optimises data-centre port utilisation by accurately tracking and documenting changes as they occur, providing proactive monitoring, preventing costly errors and downtime and increasing productivity.

The easy-to-implement hardware and the powerful iTRACS software can be integrated into any new or existing network. Request free introductory details about products from Tyco Electronics/AMP NETCONNECT Division ...
