A TDOC product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 30, 2007

Version 5 of TDOC, the market-leading Construction Engineering Management Document Control software for the civil engineering and construction sectors has been released.

The latest version features a new data browser which makes navigation easier, and ftp facilities for uploading documents means that restrictions on email size can be overcome.

In addition, every document on the system can be indexed using an enhanced keyword facility which can be used to locate every relevant document, drawing, and email etc on the system.

This is particularly useful when preparing a contract claims and rebuttals.

Other key features introduced in the new version include:.

* Extended support for communications with other people on the project using edi and html forms which provides a complete audit trail of who was sent what and when.

This is essential to maintaining your own commercial integrity.

In the event of a dispute all relevant correspondence and documents can be accessed and collated easily.

This is in contrast to portal-based systems where it can be difficult to retrieve information which you have sent.

* Electronic Document Management (EDM) support for all generated documents and documents attached to the database so that items are automatically stored to an appropriate folder.

* Support for verified signatures on formal correspondence using encrypted scanned signatures to prove documents are genuine.

* For electronic tendering the user simply selects the relevant files and these are automatically burned to CD or DVD.

* The contract number can automatically generate a client's logo or an image of the project on to reports, transmittals, letters, and so forth.

* Logon rights have been extended and security and safety messages improved offering four different levels of access in addition to the usual username and password protection.

The launch coincides with the appointment of a new agent covering England and the South East, Technical Document Solutions Limited (TDS).

TDS is a specialist supplier to the architectural, engineering and construction sectors.

Patrick Neininger of TDS said "We looked at the entire market for technical document and EDM systems and TDOC is head and shoulders above the rest".

"With margins being squeezed ever tighter, every organisation in the construction supply chain needs to eliminate the possibility of costly errors and potential litigation by ensuring their document control processes are watertight".

"The TDOC system is highly complementary to our current product portfolio and we are delighted to become one of their key partners".

Since 1990, TDOC has been employed on over GBP7bn of projects ranging from airports to factories and offices to oil rigs.

It was one of the first and remains one of the best CEMDC software products available for efficient project management and making sure projects are finished on time and on budget.

Key clients include Standard Life, Carillion Engineering, Veolia and other leading contractors.

Developed by experienced civil engineers and project managers TDOC offers the following benefits:.

- Regulates document control so that the correct revisions of a document with the correct status are presented.
