DuPont Plantex, the most effective method of non-chemical weed control, not only wins the constant battle against weeds, it is also the ideal partner for hard landscaping projects.

DuPont Plantex, the most effective method of non-chemical weed control, not only wins the constant battle against weeds, it is also the ideal partner for hard landscaping projects according to its UK distributor TDP Ltd Manufactured by DuPont, Plantex was the first landscape fabric produced for weed control, but can also be used to aid site stability and to improve drainage

Its innovative, porous structure allows air and water to pass through to the soil whilst forming a barrier which is impenetrable to most weeds and grasses.

The individual fibres of polypropylene are thermally bonded by heat and pressure to form a fabric that is very strong yet lightweight and easy to use.

Mulching costs are cut as Plantex reduces the amount required and if the area is to be planted, landscapers have found that they do not need to specify a heavy planting density.

Plantex helps new plants to establish faster by weed suppression and water retention and with less plants lost to weed competition another saving is made.

For paving projects, when placed between the hard-core sub-base and bedding down sand, Plantex prevents the growth of unsightly weeds, aids the stability of the surface and allows exceptional drainage.

Extremely simple to lay, Plantex can be used under a host of other materials including gravel, turf, bark and timber decking and being chemically inert, it can be laid on any area safely without any risk to children, wildlife or the environment.

Plantex is specified widely by landscape architects and builders and has been used for a wide range of major projects from road schemes and public parks to housing developments and commercial premises.

A new interactive CD-Rom for landscape architects and builders is available from TDP to raise awareness of the product's benefits and assist professional users.

The CD-Rom is introduced by a 'virtual' presenter, a 3D talking head character, which makes it easy and interesting to use as it provides advice on applications and acts as a guide through the range of features, one of which is a handy product calculator enabling the user to obtain accurate estimates of material quantities by entering project specifications.

www.plantex.tv, a brand new website also launched by TDP, provides information on nationwide stockists as well as a host of practical information.

Plantex has also been on TV this year with a new advertising campaign designed to illustrate the many benefits of Plantex to a wide range of audiences.

Rob Barlow, managing director of TDP feels the advantages of using Plantex are clear, "Plantex can be laid across the entire site, under paving, pathways, lawns and borders, offering stabilisation and low maintenance landscaping.

All landscaped areas remain weed-free and in pristine condition, so eliminating the cost of upkeep." Plantex is available from builders' merchants nationwide in a comprehensive range of roll sizes.
