Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency searching for most innovative project that has successfully encouraged the take-up of insulation measures in existing housing.

Throughout the country there are many local authorities, housing associations, charities, communities and others working hard to encourage people to take advantage of a simple, cost-effective way of making a real difference to the quality of their home lives To recognise their efforts, the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency - which provides the independent 25 year Cavity Wall guarantee to householders - is searching for the most innovative project that has successfully encouraged the take-up of insulation measures in existing housing

The 'Innovative Insulation' award is part of this year's National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) awards.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the National Insulation Association which is administering the award on behalf of CIGA, said: "Concerns over energy efficiency and the environment have pushed insulation measures even further to the fore".

"There are many people working all around the country to explain the benefits to householders".

"Through this award we hope to recognise those who have come up with new and exciting ways of getting the message across".

"It's not just about communication and explaining the benefits, it's about projects which have achieved a successful uptake too".

Keeping warm in winter is an important issue and for most people in the UK, doing so is straightforward - make sure your home is adequately insulated and you not only save on your heating bills but you're kept snug and warm all winter long.

So why do millions of UK householders still struggle unnecessarily with high fuel bills and chilly homes?.

Why does the UK have a shameful record in terms of preventable deaths from cold among the elderly?.

What is it about insulation which makes people ignore a real opportunity of avoiding these situations?.

For those who know the answers to these questions, or know someone who is truly an outstanding warmth communicator, then the closing date for entries is 24th August 2007.

Application forms and more details are available from the National Home Improvement Council's website.
