Asda built with Thermalite aircrete blocks
The 23 acre Asda Superstore site including 85,000 sqft of non-food and leisure outlets has made extensive use of Thermalite aircrete blocks.
As a consequence of this, Thermalite has fully supported the CITB by providing comprehensive on-site training for college lecturers to ensure teaching expertise and standards are of an exceptional level.
Paul Reed, Head of Marketing for Thermalite, commented: "These training days provided lecturers with the necessary expertise they require for building and working with Thin Joint Masonry".
" This has enabled students to really understand the true value of applying thin joint masonry as a walling solution." By utilising a much thinner mortar joint than with traditional blockwork, the system can yield significant cost savings, allow improved build quality, lower wastage, and provide solutions that comply with the requirements of current Building Regulations.
By providing these benefits the Thin Joint Masonry system complies with new Government recommendations for future build processes, representing one of the few on-site systems that fully qualifies as a Modern Method of construction.
