Design Composite Beams With Precast Concrete Slabs
Design of composite beams using precast concrete slabs, a new publication from the Steel Construction Institute.
The aim of the publication is to identify the potential for dry composite structural floor and wall assemblies, using light steel and timber components.
It is a feasibility study that proposes possible systems and demonstrates that they are structurally viable.
The report has been designed as a "springboard" for manufacturers and building designers for the development of marketable, commercial products.
In line with Government directives on sustainable construction, the use of light steel sections and timber boards, connected by familiar mechanical fixings, means that the dry composite components can be reused.
The report was sponsored by the DTI and Corus Colors.
