Help With Part L And Metal Claddings
The Steel Construction Institute, with assistance from MCRMA and NFRC, has produced two new Technical Information Sheets to help designers and contractors with Part L, Metal Claddings.
The SCI recognises that an ability to achieve good acoustic performance is essential to allow steel solutions to continue to make inroads into the growing residential market and it is working with its members to develop and promote high performance details.
Earlier this year the ODPM agreed to accept the use of robust details as an alternative to post completion testing for new houses and flats.
These ways of demonstrating compliance will come into force on 1 July 2004.
A new company, Robust Details Limited, has been set up to 'run' the use of RDs.
Comprehensive information is available on www.robustdetails.com, including guidance on:.
* Ordering the robust details handbook, showing construction details.
* Applying for permission to use an RD.
* Submitting a new detail.
