RAF choose Wolf safety torches

Wolf Safety, the specialist manufacturer of portable safety lighting equipment for use in hazardous areas, has recently won two major contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence [MOD] The Company has developed two special versions of its highly successful primary cell powered Wolf ATEX Safety Torch range for use by the Royal Air Force, where potentially explosive atmospheres might be present

The TR-24+MOD yellow Right-Angle Safety Torch is being supplied to RAF ground crew for inspection and maintenance of aircraft.

Key features of this torch which facilitated selection, included its compact yet robust right-angle design, high output xenon main spare bulbs and low battery power indicator.

Another important factor was its high visibility yellow body, and the photo-luminescent 'glow in the dark' lens ring which would minimise the risk of a torch being left in critical areas of the aircraft.

The TR-24BMOD black 'Aircrew' Right-Angle Safety Torch is being supplied to RAF aircrew for applications including pre-flight inspections of helicopters and transport aircraft.

Many of the requirements for features were similar to those for the ground crew torch, but product colour and visibility requirements were different.

The aircrew torch was specified in black to allow the use of coloured filters, masking any light that could otherwise leak through the back off the torch, particularly critical with NVG [night vision goggle] compatible filters.

These primary cell torches, complement the rechargeable Wolflite Safety Handlamp H-251A, versions of which have been NATO codified and in use with the RAF for approximately 20 years. Request a free brochure from Wolf Safety Lamp Company ...
