Accsys announces global growth strategy

An Accsys Technologies product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 23, 2010

Accsys Technologies offers sustainable technologies through the development of products, based upon the acetylation of solid wood and wood elements.

The company, a UK environmental science and technology company, is now under the new leadership of Paul Clegg who was appointed as chief executive officer on 1 August 2009.

Paul has implemented a series of changes to the overall management structure and operations of the business to further drive the company's sales and leadership in the industry.

The primary focus of the company is to license and produce its Accoya solid wood and Tricoya wood elements technology via Titan Wood, the company's 100 per cent wholly owned subsidiary.

Manufactured through the acetylation process, these products offer superior dimensional stability and durability than other natural and treated timber and wood elements, including wood chips, fibres and particles.

Accsys, comprised of the holding company and four wholly owned subsidiaries, has three core business units: technology licensing, the commercial scale Accoya wood production facility in the Netherlands and technology development.

Accsys is listed on AIM (AXS LN) and Euronext (AXS NA) with a global sales team covering Europe, North America and Asia, and is expanding its global footprints swiftly.

Accsys has now entered into a total of 17 global distribution, agency and supply agreements.

The company also has working relationships with a further 10 distributors and agents in key markets, including Saint Gobain's subsidiary, International Timber.

Accsys works with a number of distribution partners reaching all parts of the UK; International Timber; Arnold Laver Timber World; Abbey Wood Timber; Vincent Timber; Russwood; James Latham.

Accsys has signed 11 agreements since October 2009, including a number of distribution partners in North America as it continues to develop its sales network.

Following initial product certification and introduction, Accsys is now effectively scaling its capabilities in key markets.

Distribution partners provide greater market penetration in existing and new application segments for the company's product, increasing awareness of the Accoya brand amongst end users, and driving sales.

As use of Accoya wood becomes more widespread this will produce greater licensing opportunities.
