Timber Frame Industry Launches New Guidelines
The UK Timber Frame Association, promoting the benefits of timber frame to the public and the construction industry, has launched a document entitled "Fuel and Power Conservation Guidelines".
Created to help designers and specifiers meet the revised Building Regulations using timber frame, the Guidance Notes are the first of an occasional technical series which the UKTFA will be publishing.
Produced in consultation with the UKTFA by BRE (Building Research Establishment) and reviewed by Napier University's Department of Timber Engineering, the Guidance Notes use text, illustration and worked examples to describe ways of complying with the new Regulations.
The Notes also take into account Regulation differences throughout the UK.
The Guidance Notes have been reviewed and welcomed by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) who have said: "All designers who are specifying and detailing timber frame construction will find this book to be an authoritative and useful reference tool.
The RIAS has no hesitation in recommending it.
Indeed these guidance notes on Parts L/J/F Regulations would be a useful addition to any architect's technical library." Copies of the Guidance Notes are available from the UKTFA offices at a cost of £3 to members and £10 to non members (per document), reductions for bulk orders.
Orders please to UKTFA offices 01259 272140 or email office@timber-frame.org.
