Toolkit for timber frame construction

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) publishes the Absolutely Essential Health and Safety Toolkit for timber frame construction.

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) has published a new guide to health and safety for timber frame construction.

Produced in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of its 'Working Well Together' campaign, the guide is the latest in the UKTFA's very popular series of pocket-sized publications.

The illustrated guide is being distributed free to construction sector health and safety inspectors in the UK, to timber frame manufacturers, erectors and designers who are UKTFA members, key companies in the timber frame supply chain and successful candidates on the UKTFA's new training and accreditation programme for timber frame erectors.

The guide acts as a toolkit to help managers and site-based workers recognise, manage and avoid health and safety risks on timber frame sites, ensuring their own protection as well as that of subcontractors, clients and any visitors on site.

It also includes a three copy checklist that can be used as part of site induction procedures.

The publication includes a message of support from the HSE's Chief Inspector of Construction, who commends the guide: "It is gratifying that the UKTFA, working in partnership with the HSE, has produced this toolkit not as an end result, but as the first of three stages of information to be provided to those who work on members' sites".
