Smaller timber frame companies get stronger voice on UKTFA Board

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) has appointed Lawrence Young and Jim Johnstone to the Board.

Lawrence Young is Director of Young Black Industrial Stapling , a specialist fastening company set up in 1979.

He will be responsible for chairing the UKTFA's Membership Committee, including its work to grow the membership and ensure a high level of member satisfaction with the Association.

Jim Johnstone is Director of A1M , a specialist timber frame manufacturer based in the strategically important Thames Gateway area.

With more than 18 years' experience in the timber frame industry, Jim will be in charge of the UKTFA committee that advises the industries subcontractor activities and health and safety.

Stewart Dalgarno, Chairman of the UKTFA, said: "These appointments really help to strengthen the coherence and balance within the Board".

"Both Lawrence and Jim bring with them very specific technical knowledge and business management skills".

"They also help to represent the interests of our supplier members and the many smaller manufacturing companies involved in our industry.".
