The Health and Safety People offered safety advice during the production of the Channel 4 Show "Demolition Day" recently.

The Health and Safety People Offer Safety Advice During Production of Channel 4 Show "Demolition Day" Sandy, Beds, 04 June 2004 - The Health and Safety People, a fast growing consultancy offering an in-depth range of health and safety services successfully provided on-site safety advice during the making of the recently televised 'Demolition Day' construction based challenge programme.

The Health and Safety People were called in to join a wider existing team after the pilot of the show to offer further detailed advice on any possible unsafe activities and to ensure contestants working on projects were not putting themselves or others at risk.

Acting as one of the safety linesman involved in the production, The Health and Safety People helped to provide thorough risk assessments for the show.

With method statements drawn up, contestants were given a clear outline of all the procedures and any potential hazards they might have faced on the Demolition Day set.

The programme, which pitches two teams consisting of an engineer, builder and demolition expert against each other, involves each team having to construct their own version of the same building structure and making it strong enough to withstand all attempts to destroy it.

The Health and Safety People's involvement was particularly helpful during the final stages of each show.

They were part of the team on-hand to provide advice on how to avoid injury should a structure collapse, not only for the contestants but for all parties involved, including the film crew.
