askTRADA Beats Half Year Targets

TRADA, the Timber Research and Development Association, has exceeded its half-year targets for both new members and Registered Users of its askTRADA website.

When free access to the core technical information on the website was launched in January, TRADA anticipated a huge increase in visitor numbers.

'We were also confident that thousands of visitors would choose to register for free information and that a proportion of those would take the further step of joining TRADA,' said Chief Executive Andrew Abbott.

TRADA had aimed to sign up 100 new Corporate and Professional members along with 10,000 Registered Users by the end of June and has managed to exceed both targets.

Visitor numbers to www.asktrada.co.uk continue to grow, too, with more than 22,000 visits to the site each month, said Head of Information Jeremy Vibert.

'The increase in Corporate membership, we feel, is down to the Directory, which enables website visitors to link up directly with product suppliers.

Our statistics show that every month the website is recording on average 55,000 page views of the Directory alone.

For suppliers, the only route to inclusion in the Directory is by joining TRADA.' Mr Vibert continued: 'As well as simply viewing information about the products and services available, more than 3,500 click-throughs are made to members' websites each month, with some sites receiving over 200 links.

Interestingly, big companies are not the only ones that are benefiting.

During May, for example, some of our members specialising in products as diverse as fire doors, green oak construction, engineered timber and conservation each received more than 40 referrals.'.
